An architecturally scaled, kinetic sculpture that conceals and reveals the gallery from the street. Taking the curtain as a central metaphor, the sculpture explores how materials frame our relationship to public and private space.

Corten steel reflects the distinctive materiality of heavy velvet, referencing to KARST's proximity to theatres and other public entertainment venues in the city, whist delicately perforated stainless steel panels allude to domestic net or lace curtains.  Stylised motifs of regional wildflowers (Speedwell and Lily of the Valley) explore the role of colonial expeditions in plant discovery, and Plymouth's involvment in these dialogues through its naval histories.
